September 1999’s block was Indian Trails.

The finished block measures 6 inches square (6 1/2 inches unfinished).

  1. Cut one 2 1/2 inch background square.
  1. Cut four 2 7/8 inch background squares; cut each on the diagonal to form triangles.
  1. Cut 2 7/8 inch squares from your prints/solids.  Cut each on the diagonal to form triangles -- five triangles of one color, three of another, and one triangle of your remaining color.
  1. Refer to the diagram and sew the triangles together to form the squares.
  2. Assemble the block as pictured; you will have nine squares that will go together like a nine-patch block.
  3. Your finished (unfinished) block should measure six and one-half inches.  Be sure to leave the seam allowance on the block, DO NOT cut it to the 6 inch finished size -- as the “finished” measurement represents the block size after it is sewn into a quilt top.

Examples of the ways this block can be used.
