September 1998’s block was Cross Roads to Jericho.

The finished block measures 9 inches square (9 1/2 inches unfinished).

  1. Cut four dark 2 5/8 inch squares.
  2. Cut five cream (or cream-on-cream 2 5/8 inch squares.

  1. Cut two 5 3/8 inch squares from another dark fabric.
  2. Cut these squares diagonally to form four triangles.
Assembly

  1. Assemble the 2 5/8 inch squares as a nine-patch.
  2. Sew the triangles to the edges, as shown.

Your finished (unfinished) block should measure 9 1/2 inches.  Be sure to leave the seam allowance on the block, DO NOT cut it to the nine inch finished size -- as the “finished” measurement represents the block size after it is sewn into a quilt top.
