December 1997’s block was a 9 inch Railroad Crossing

The finished block measures 9 inch square (1/2 inches unfinished).

  1. From white, cut one 5 3/8 inch square.  Cut this square diagonally to form two triangles.
  1. From white, cut four 2 3/4 inch squares.
  1. From a green print, cut one 5 3/8 inch square.   Cut this square diagonally to form two triangles.
  1. From a red print, cut four 2 3/4 inch squares.
  1. Sew white triangles to the green triangles.
  2. Sew red squares to white squares as shown in graphic to the left.
  3. Using the graphic for placement reference, sew the four units together to form the block.
Your completed block will measure 9 1/2 inches.
Nine inches after sewn into a quilt!
