August 2000’s block was Bright Hopes


The finished block measures 12 inches square.
(12 1/2 inches unfinished).

Instructions:  Use good quality, 100% cotton prewashed fabrics.

 

The centers should be white with a tiny/small red print.  The strips should be cut from medium red and dark red.

  1. Cut four 2 1/2 inch squares from white fabric with some red in it.
  2. Cut eight 2 1/2 by 4 1/2 inch rectangles from a medium red fabric.
  3. Cut eight 2 1/2 by 4 1/2 inch rectangles from a dark red fabric.
  4. Sew a rectangle to the center square, continue around the square in log cabin fashion -- as shown in the graphic.
  5. Repeat three times.

  1. After adding the fourth rectangle, finish the seam from the first rectangle.

  2. Join the four quarters together to form the block.
Your completed unfinished block will measure 12 1/2 inches.
Twelve inches after sewn into a quilt!
